This years Bourbon & Bowties is in the history books. By all accounts it was a huge success with a record 1200 attendees. I've uploaded all my photos from the evening including a few from Quad7.
While the party was fantastic, it is important to never lose sight of our purpose, which is to raise money ultimately for Kosair Children’s Hospital. Every year we have an honoree who was cared for by Kosair Children's Hospital.
The seventh annual Bourbon & Bowties event honored 17-year-old Tanner Demling. He was born with a rare congenital heart defect, underwent surgery at Kosair Children’s Hospital as an infant. His heart showed no signs of stress; however, Demling went into sudden cardiac arrest while playing lacrosse in the fall of 2014. Lifesaving CPR was performed by his coach and a bystander who happened to be a nurse from Kosair Children’s Medical Center – Brownsboro.
Demling has made a remarkable recovery after enduring several surgeries, including a procedure to place a defibrillator in his chest. Demling attends Trinity High School, where he is the manager for the school’s basketball team. Though he no longer plays lacrosse, he still follows the sport and coordinates social media for True Lacrosse Kentucky. Thank you everyone for your generous support.
