Thursday night we attended the "Festival Unveiled" Event at the Ice House, the official kick off for Kentucky Derby Festival. I shot a "few" photos for Four Roses that I hope you enjoy here.
It was a fantastic evening with many things to experience. The 2014 Kentucky Derby Festival poster artists, sisters Jeaneen Barnhart and Doreen Barnhart-DeHart were both on hand to sign copies of their Official KDF Poster. There was also a silent auction where we just had to bid and won a beautiful signed framed print.
Four Roses Bourbon also held their 11th Annual Rose Julep Recipe Contest in conjunction with Festival Unveiled. The contest challenged Louisville-area mixologists to showcase their skills in front of a panel of local celebrity and beverage industry judges. The judging reflected the final round of the "best of the best." Event attendees also sampled the five finalist recipes and voted for the “People’s Choice” Rose Julep.
Congratulations go out to Bartender Jason J. Stark and Martini Italian Bistro on sweeping both the Judges and People's Choice Awards. Their winning drink was a spicy variation of the Mint Julep made with always enjoyable Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon. They literally caught the place on fire with your winning drink!
One thing wonderful about these events is the people you run into and the new people you meet. Check out the photos. You might just see people people you know too. Karen and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and to top it off Karen drew a Gold Pegasus Pin. Wish her luck.
Last night was a huge success on all fronts. This is a must return event for next year.
