We all have people we consider heros and role models. Today I met and spent some time with one of mine, Penny Chenery owner of Secretariat. She so exceeded all my expectations. She has boundless energy as boundless as the way she views life with no boundaries. Her warmth and wit are equally without bounds. She is truly an inspiration to all of us. I can't wait to see Penny again at the Derby Museum May 1st as she celebrates the 40th anniversary of Secretariats Triple Crown victory.
We were excited to attend and photograph the Four Roses Barrel Selection process today with Penny Chenery Secretariat's owner as she selected two barrels of Bourbon for the upcoming 40th Secretariat Anniversary Celebration to be held at the Derby Museum on May 1st. One barrel is for the limited edition decanter and the other is designated for the signature bottle both of which can be purchased in advance and picked up at the event where they will also be signed.
At 91 Penny is still going strong enjoying her Bourbon and sharing her incredible wit that you can listen to for hours.
Given the limited quantities you may wish to go to Derby Museum website at: http://www.derbymuseum.org/Secretariat/event.html where you can purchase your tickets now for the May 1st celebration and the limited edition bottle and decanter while supplies last.
The ticketed cocktail event will provide guests with an exclusive opportunity to experience a guided tasting with Bourbon connoisseur and Secretariat's owner, Penny Chenery and Master Distiller Jim Rutledge. Mr. Ron Turcotte, Secretariat's jockey will also be present for signings and commemorative Secretariat (1973) merchandise sales will be available for purchase.
