The headline: "Corbett's Restaurant in east Louisville will close its doors for good Saturday night after 10 years of service." While true there is so much more than Corbetts closing their doors. It was a bittersweet evening. The employees were notified of the closing at 3:00pm and yet as the true professionals they are they continued all evening to provide the high level of service, food and drink that Corbetts is known for. They stood proudly by Dean along with friends also notified at the last minute and dining guests who had no idea of the closing enjoying Corbetts for one last time.
I could type volumes here about the evening but the attached WHAS news video says it all. I will simply add it that he placed over 90% of his employees before making the formal announcement. See the WHAS video for that and much more.
So while the evening marked the closing of Corbetts, it also showed the love, respect and compassion that the man Dean Corbett evokes from those around him. While we will certainly miss Corbetts the Restaurant, our love and respect for Dean Corbett the man will continue to live on as we share many more happy memories together. A toast to you my friend.
